Abide - to remain, continue, or endure
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me, I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:4-5).
“This is the way we may know that we are in union with him: whoever claims to abide in him ought to live just as he lived.” 1 John 2:5-6
Throughout scripture, Christ and his apostles use the word “abide” to communicate that our lives should be deeply and truly intertwined with Christ Himself. We’re all called to remain in Christ, no matter the cost.
